The Economics and Geography Programme combines modules from two cognate disciplines to provide a broadly-based integrated programme of study focused on the analysis of economy and society. Its aims are:
- To provide a flexible but structured training in Economics and Geography which will provide students with knowledge and understanding appropriate for subject-specific
graduate employment
- To develop key transferable skills to prepare students for more general graduate employment
- To develop the intellectual and practical skills necessary for progression to postgraduate research and training
- To encourage academic curiosity which will prepare students for lifelong learning
- To offer a choice of modules which will give students experience across the spectrum of Economics and Geography
- To offer students the opportunity to conduct a research project

Knowledge and Understanding
Although using modules available to all students in the two departments, this degree is distinctive in that it utilises a restricted range of relevant year two and year three courses, and requires students to undertake a project that is focused on an approved topic that integrates material from geography and economics.
Students will be given guidance on an appropriate choice of modules.

Compulsory Modules
Part 1: Either Geog170/171 (double geography) plus Part 1 Economics OR Geog 160 (Human Geography) plus Part 1 Economics and one other Part 1 course.
Part 2 year 2:
Geog202 (Geographical Concepts) (30 Credits); Geog213 (Geographies of Political Economy) (15 Credits); one additional human or environmental geography module (15 credits).
60 credits in Economics chosen in consultation with the Director of Studies
Part 2 year 3:
Geog 303 (project 15 credits) plus three more Geography 15 credit human or environmental modules
60 credits in Economics chosen in consultation with the Director of Studies
