Subject Specific: Knowledge, Understanding and Skills
On successful completion of this scheme of study students will be able to:
· display a basic knowledge and understanding of laws and principles relating to core physics material including statistical physics, quantum mechanics, properties of solids, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics and atomic and nuclear physics.
· display a basic knowledge and understanding of core mathematical methods used in Physics.
· apply this knowledge of core mathematics and physics to problem-solving and to model physical behaviour.
· display a basic knowledge and understanding of some specialist topics in space science.
· understand and apply the basic principles of experimental investigations and interpretation of experimental data.
· undertake open-ended investigations in the areas of space science and be able to give a written and oral account of such work at a professional level.
General: Knowledge, Understanding and Skills
On successful completion of this scheme of study students will be able to:
· manage their own learning and use appropriate IT skills, texts and other learning resources to undertake investigations.
· plan and execute basic experimental investigations.
· numerically manipulate, present and interpret information graphically or otherwise.
· analyse critically the results of an investigation and draw valid conclusions.
· display written and oral skills for making presentations at a professional level.
· work effectively in a small team.
